I sped through this session because little miss A was a bundle of energy needing to flit from one thing to another quite quickly in order to keep her attention – and she had so much fun doing it! I don’t think we left a single thing out that we’d wanted to accomplish.
Mom came to the session as a recommendation from a wonderful client, and one of the first things she said to me was “I have no expectations”, and let me do what I needed to capture expressions from her daughter.
Little Miss “A” as we’ll call her has to have the most captivating eyes. Mom had told me how badly her husband was hoping for colour images because A has blue eyes. But as a Black & White photographer, I had to assure her that blue eyes actually read beautifully in black and white. Most people don’t realize the beauty in the blue eye – that it usually has a darker outer rim that acts to define the iris – spectacular!
We started out in the window, allowing A to look at the world below and stare at the wonders outside. She really enjoyed kissing the glass – perhaps she saw herself? In either case, it was adorable and I captured some of her kissing her reflection as well as these:
A photographer will tell you that all children have that special something guaranteed to get a smile or a laugh. It can take a while to find it; it is usually a noise at this age. For A it was watching me crack up into howls of laughter. The more I would laugh, the more she would laugh. Of course, laughing that hard, I had to be sure to hold the camera still, but still emit cackles to get her going – and it worked every time
Considering that mom had “no expectations” from this session, I dare say that I think she will be pleasantly surprised
I’ve been staring at this little mug all day and have her little smile burned into my brain. I can’t say that is a bad thing cause I just think she is so adorable!
I see mom tomorrow morning for her presentation appointment, and look forward to sharing these and 36 others with her!
