That’s right! Heather Rivlin is expanding, growing, adding-on….
OK, I am not renovating, and I am not relocating the studio. I am not hiring staff (at the moment), but I am expanding…in a physical way – I am expecting baby #3!
I will be starting a maternity leave in August 2007, and will be on leave until April 1st, 2008. So….what does that mean for clients of the studio? Well…..
Book now for the last remaining spots for July/Aug – there are really only a handful, and then I will be booking for after the mat leave in April!
Last time I took a mat leave (in 2005), I hadn’t anticipated the overwhelming influx of clients wanting sessions, and took session bookings during the mat leave for when I returned. This, I thought, was all well and good, except I returned in January 2006 with 7 months of sessions booked out and a massive wait time on sessions! New callers were shocked to hear that I had just returned, and was booking in AUGUST! So, this time we will do things a little differently, ok?
The plan:
I will be returning from maternity leave on April 1st, 2008. I will not be making appointments during my maternity leave until March 1st, 2008, the month before I return. That will allow the wait list to not grow out of control!
There is also a possibility that I will be hiring an associate photographer to conduct sessions at the studio in my place. This will require some preparations on my part, as sessions would still be conducted at the Avenue/Lawrence studio, but would not be photographed by me personally, but instead by an associate who I deem to have a similar style and who will still offer the same products of the studio, the same viewing and ordering sessions here, and the same experience – minus ME!
I can’t foresee what is going to happen, but I know that decisions need to be made, so making this post official will urge me to move forward with this process.
If you are a professional photographer, and you are looking to provide sessions at my studio for my clientele in my absence, please email me at info@heatherrivlin.com or contact me by phone at (416) 782-6482.
I will post a separate entry for this position, once I iron out the details!
For those who wonder – I am due at the beginning of October. Why am I taking leave starting in August? My job is a physical one, as many of you know, and I have to often contort myself into akward positions in order to capture an angle, or a moment. I simply can’t do circus maneuvers after 7 months, and I cannot chase your little ones with the same speed and sprightiness that I have when I am not pregnant. I will, however, be able to do maternity sessions, if needed, as that is mostly standing…which I can do really well!
Wishing you all the best, and glad to be able to s p r e a d the news!
